What Is Google Adwords?
Google has inventoried the most websites worldwide. From just about every corner of the world someone can search Google for just about information they want. When someone does a search in Google, Google displays two things: search results that are relevant to what the searcher wanted and contextually relevant advertisements corresponding to what the searcher was looking for. Google Adwords is how someone enters and pays for their advertisements that show up in sponsored links on the SERP’s, Search Engine Results Pages.

Adwords Is How Google Makes Money
While it is correct that for free you can find just about anything you want using Google’s search tool, Google makes its money by selling clicks on advertisements. Every time someone does a search for something and they then click on an advertisement, Google gets paid. That’s right, Google displays advertisements along with the search results, and for the most part, Google gets paid by the advertiser when someone who was searching for something clicks on that advertiser’s advertisement. This is known as Pay Per Click advertising PPC.

Sponsored Links On Google Is Adwords
Go to Google in your search browser. Type in any search term you want. I picked "stuffed animals" as I have a 1 year old daughter. In a few seconds you will see search results in front of you. On the right side of the page you will see a list of advertisers found in a box with a border around it labeled Sponsored Links. You may also see another box near the top of the search results that is also titled Sponsored Links. Advertisers who are found in either of these boxes are using Adwords to create and show these ads on Google.

Who Can Set Up An Adwords Account?
Google allows just about anyone or any company to setup an Adwords account to advertise their product and services on Google’s site. There are some rules that you must follow about what you can or cannot advertise. You will be able to read about that if you want to set up an account.

Where Do I Get An Adwords Account?
Getting an Adwords Account is pretty simple to do. Go to Google.com and just under the search window you will see a link to Advertising Programs. Click the link and you will come to a page that will give you information for Adwords and Adsense. Near the bottom of the page under the Adwords section you will see a button that says Sign Up Now. Click that button and proceed through the directions to set up an account.

Why Would I Use Adwords?
Adwords is a great way to get the word out about your website, and ultimately the product or service that you sell or provide. Typically, getting found in the search engine results page SERP takes a fair amount of time and energy. If you have 30-60-90 days to wait to have your website found in Google then utilizing Search Engine Marketing is a great way to promote your site online. However, if you are in a hurry, or want to add and promote a new product or service on your site, then Adwords is the way to go.

Does It Cost Money To Use Adwords?
Well, this is a hard question to answer if I were to give you exact dollar amounts. If you use Adwords to advertise your website’s good and services, then you will create an ad in your Adwords account. Then you will tell Google how much you are willing to pay them in other words, you bid on how much you want to pay each time someone clicks on your Ad when it is shown in the Google network.
So if you have a website that sells Stuffed Animals then you would tell Google that you are willing to pay $2.50 everytime someone clicks on your Ad. So to answer the question, how much does it cost to use Adwords?" it depends on the marketing budget that you want to use for this avenue of your overall marketing plan.
Naming your own price for the cost of a click for your ad is a great way to get traffic to your site. However, it can be challenging too. It is challenging because while you are naming your price so are other website owners who are competing for the same keywords and customers as you. Pricing can change very quickly so you must be very attentive to what you are doing with Adwords.

Can I Make Up My Own Ads?
Writing your own ads with Adwords is pretty easy. Once you set up your account, there is a lot of information to help you get started on putting your ads together. There is a simple form to fill out for each ad that you want to write and show online. This form also makes it very easy for you to change an ad once it is online and the changes are instantaneous.
You will need to know something about your product or service that you are looking to advertise, as well as keywords for your product or service. Again, from within your Adwords account Google has provided plenty of information to get you started in learning the basics around keywords.
If you have a website and you have wanted to get traffic to it and not known how, Google has the perfect way to do it literally in the next hour. The only delay is the time it takes you to go to Google, sign up for an Adwords account, create your ad and post it. Let Google do the rest and watch your site traffic and revenue go up.
