How To Sell Your Car Online

The days of putting a sign on your car and sticking it on the corner are over. Today millions of cars, new and used, are being bought and sold over the internet.  The days of looking at ads in the newspaper, hopping in the car to go see the car are over.  Now the majority of people begin their car purchase or sale by using the internet.  The web is a great place to get a lot of information quickly and conveniently all in the comfort of your own home.  You can also save a lot of gas as well at $3 a gallon.

I know when I was younger my sources for car buying information were the newspaper, Auto Trader and visiting the car lot.  For myself, I used to like to pick up the Auto Trader and thumb through it at the Circle K that was across the street from my apartment.  Flipping through pages of cars that I was not interested in was kind of annoying.  Now Autotrader has a website that you can go to do a car search.  You can just put in the model, make, year, mileage and price range of car that you are interested in, hit click and poof you got a ton of cars that you can look at.

Another great benefit of the internet is that you can also sell your car on Autotrader as well.  All you have to do is go snap a few pictures of your car with your digital camera. If you do not have a digital camera, go to any 1 hour photo and have your photos given to you electronically so you can upload them on to the internet. Then you go to the Autotrader.com web site and fill out their information form about you and your car. In addition, they will ask you to upload pictures, set your price and you are good to go.

I sold my 1995 BMW 325i in one day to the first person that came to look at it off of the Autotrader.com ad that I put online.  I had my first call on the car within 5 minutes of it going into the system.  Over the next 24 hours I must have had over 20 calls.  I couldn’t believe it.  Once the car was sold I had to change my message to say that the car was sold.  For days the phone kept ringing.  I wish I would have had 20 more just like it to sell.

The other thing you can do is to place your car for sale on craigslist.com.  Craiglist.com is one of the biggest online classified services on the internet.  Not only that but it is one of the top 10 most visited sites on the internet.  They receive nearly 7 billion visits a month.  The other nice thing about craigslist.com is that it is totally free.  You can post by state and city and yes it’s still free.  With a little modification to your ads, you can post as many ads, as often as you want, and they only take about 3 minutes to post: it is easy.  As long as you have an email address you can get a craigslist.com account.

If you are selling a car and are not sure what to sell it for, you can also get that information online for free as well.  Kelly Blue Book has a website where you can get an idea of what your car is worth as a trade in or as a private party sale (kellybluebook.com or try nada.com for another resource – just type either of these in your browser).  The only thing I would caution here is that you need to be realistic about the condition of your car.  The more realistic about your price the quicker you will sell it.

I hope this information was useful.  Happy car selling.

U.S. Bank, N.A., is accused of failing "to provide necessary documentation delayed the re-sale of the foreclosed property and the department's mitigation of the FHA fund's losses in connection with the claim," the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development said in a news release. The Minneapolis-based institution "agreed to settle allegations that it violated HUD/FHA requirements in the submission of documentation necessary for the department to process a claim on a multifamily insured property" for an administrative payment of $37,500. In all, four Federal Housing Administration-approved lenders settled with HUD, while the agency hit two other approved mortgagees with $27,000 in civil money penalties.
